We're way south of most of you guys. And we're seeing an
increase in humming bird numbers. Mostly green. Fewer red.
They feed until the sun totally sets.

LOL, they were six weeks late in coming this year. It really would not upset me if they left six weeks early. Just kidding. I took this photo this evening. The double glass seal in my door leaks and the exterior pane is dirty so the photo is not the clearest. In order to limit window strikes, I leave the glass alone.

I refilled the feeder last night, it's been dry here and the few birds we get are busy at the feeder.
Wonder if they are getting ready to go south soon?

It's possible that the males are leaving. We have had temperatures down into the 50 degree area. I have not paid much attention as to how many males are buzzing around but they will leave first.

I only see males, but only maybe three.

Not sure but I believe that the Ruby Throated is the most widespread hummingbird. In the case of the male, the name says it all for mature birds.

We havent seen a hummer at the feeder )or in the gardens) for the past four days.
The feeder remains full. Last week we were refilling the feeder every day...

Bon Voyage little fighters!

Seems all our male are gone and hatching's now at the feeders.

To remind everyone. Males are the 1st to head south and the ones who hang around feeders all summer. After that the females go and are seen at feeds more later in the summer. Hatching's stay longest to gain weight at known food sources.
