My father and I three years upgraded an old Ford 8N to a JD 3520. The old 8N was handed down from grandpaps farm. We used Toro mowers to mow around the houses but needed much more. Nobody farms but we wanted to maintain the land. The old 8N was used to plow snow and ran a 5' rotary mower with it. The tractor was rough and in need of a major overhaul. I convinced my dad to sell it and go with something modern to run a mid mount mower and still use the old equipment we had with the old 8N.
We looked at Kubota and JD and settled on a JD 3520 with 72" mid mount mower and 300X front loader and 60" bucket. My dad had wanted a 2X20 series but went with 3X20 series. Now 3 years later wish he had gone bigger with a 4X20 series. And we may do that!
So from above, anybody running a 4X20 series with mid mount mower? Would it be to heavy to mow with? Basically the tractor now used mainly to cut grass. Yeah we use the bucket not a much as mowing and use the bucket to move snow and use a 6' rear grader blade from the old tractor. Usually in the winter the tractor is used for hauling firewood or dragging logs.
Only reason we bought the 3520 and say not a 3320 or 3720 because that tractor with turf tires and mower happened to be sitting right there on the lot set up. Even got to demo it!
FYI
JD 3520 37HP 30 HP @ PTO
72" autoconnect MMM
300X loader
standard turf tires, ballasted
5' NewHolland rotary cutter
