We got lucky and took this one on opening morning in Missouri. It has a forked drop tine, which I don't think I had seen before.

That is a nice buck, I always like seeing drop tined bucks.

Prokop,

Congrats on a very nice buck!!!!!!!!!!

Mine just had two points on either side and it took me four years to get him. Those three years of not even seeing a buck were tough, but it sure was exiting to get that first one.

Thanks for sharing,
Eddie

Very Nice.

My first buck ever taken (you don't tend to forget these things) was a small 4point buck, Dec. 31st, 1985. He was a LOT smaller than the one you got in your first hunting season!

Congrats Prokop...

Didn't get a deer this first half of the season (split season in Illinois), but I still had a great hunt!

I passed on a little 5 pointer at about 7am, and then about a half hour later, passed on a little 8 point buck.

Then, about 15 minutes later after that, this coyote comes busting in from my left (my blind side because of the trees I'm sitting around). I had the gun on the ground resting against the tree... by the time I picked up the smokepole, the coyote had spotted me, and took off in a full run straight away from me. I put the crosshairs on it's rear end, and then the coyote turned slightly to it's left and looked back at me, still running. I moved the crosshairs up to it's shoulder/neck area, pulled the trigger, and hoped for the best. When the smoke cleared, I saw the coyote laying there... it flopped 2 or 3 times, and that was it. The bullet entered just in front of the left shoulder, and exited just behind it's right jaw ;). Not a bad shot if I do say so myself... 57 long paces from my stand is where the coyote fell.

I sure do like this CVA Optima!! Almost as much as my 22-250.

I was happier about getting this coyote than I think I would have been if I'd got a big buck :D. That was some excitement... I think the whole coyote episode lasted about 5-7 seconds at the most... It absolutely made my day!

Thank you, guys:D

I finished archery season with two draws and one miss (doe). The woods were full of dear, i saw some every day.

Than the muzzleloader season started and all the dear were gone and I did not have a chance till this buck came along - and it was already rifle season in Virginia.
It was more luck than anything, even the shot went right through the heart and buck went down on the spot.

And I say, that's a nice looking coyote Mr. xlr82v2:)

So far this season (archery and gun season) my brother and I have killed:
2 8 pt bucks
1 spikehorn
4 does

Good season. We still have one buck tag and 1 antlerless tag left, but I think we had enough for 2007.
