That is a good find. Where did you find it?
Indiana, oddly enough. That is a good find. Where did you find it?
Indiana, oddly enough.
Now why would you say it that way?
I have $3400 invested. Servicable units of similar hours usually go for around $7-8k.
$2900 and it's yours.
I bought a 1963 John Deere 4010 diesel instead
Is there a good way to check the bidirectional clutch on my 1998 325D Groundsmaster?
The drive shaft had been off before I got it. The ahft had obviously whacked the hydrostat filter and was bent. I cut it and welded on a slightly longer pipe - only about 1/4" longer.
After very few hours, I was snow blowing and the bolt that holds the bidirectional clutch on broke. The clutch slid for ward and off. I beat the hydrostat filter to death again.
While looking at the pieces, I could tell they had replaced the bolt the last time. This time it broke about 3/16" inside the splined shaft.
Is the splined shaft supposed to be fully threaded to the end?
I have yet to check deep the hole is before I hot threads.
I need to make a drill jig so I can try drilling the M8x1.25 bolt out for rethreading. I cane up with 17/64 for a tight tap bit and 6.75, H, 6.8, 6.9 and I for loser fitting tap bits.
I am going to try and drill the bolt out with a left hand bit and hopefully it will come out with the shavings so I can run a tap in and clean the threads.
Does anybody have an idea as to why this has happened to this machine 2x in such a short period of time?
It seems there has to be something that caused this.
Thanks
