Any source for John Deere MX6 cutter parts?

I HAVE A MX 6 BUSH HOG , I SNAP THE PINION SHAFT ABOUT 3 YEARS BACK , REPLACE GEARBOX , SAME THING LAST WEEK , TALK WITH JOHN DEERE DEALER THEIR ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM IS TO UP GRADE TO NEW TYPE THAT HAS A NUT ON STUMP JUMPER PAN , I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM WITH OLD TYPE IS THAT THE BOLT ON THE STUMP JUMPER PAN WORK LOOSE AND THE BECOME LOOSE ON THE SHAFT AND THE MOTION SNAP THE SHAFT.
HOW TO FIX IS TO MAKE SURE THE BOLT IS TIGHT AND WELD A PIECE KEY STOCK ACROSS STUMP JUMPER BOLT AND PAN.
JOHN DEERE SAID CANNOT GET THE SHAFT ANY MORE, SO THE UPGRADE IS $1629.00 FOR GEARBOX,PLUS $700.00 FOR BLADE AND STUMP JUMPER PAN.
I NEED THE DOWN SHAFT IF ANYONE HAS ONE

kkeg Thought the gear box from year 2010 was warrenty covered. and box before were having the problems.
Both Spain and China boxes are breaking same type of shaft . where the keeper ring is cut into the shaft.

I tossed the MX6 with maybe 20 hours of use. on junk pile and purchased a 286 Bush Hog Brand for price of J.D. gear box.
Some Day the bean counters of John Deere will wake up . realize losing customers over a dollar is still lost business.

I have a 2004 MX6 Cutter. I have snapped the shaft off in the exact same place as yalls!!! Anybody have a better solution to this ordeal yet? Im considering purchasing a new cutter! What brand yall recommend? I have a 4610 JD.

OleMiss...If you just look up at post #71, you'll see that a 286 Bush Hog was bought to replace that broken J.D. cutter - at the cost of a replacement gearbox no less!

Odds are the slip clutch is rusted tight and the shock loads are breaking the shaft.
I've been cutting 2-3" trees and an occasional hidden rock with my MX6 on a 55HP JD 1640 for years.
Only mishap to date was a golf ball sized stone that was launched forwards. I had just let my young 15 lb turkeys out of the pen to free range around the yard. They were 75 yards away but that 150MPH stone bulls eyed one bird in the head, dead.

Im going to get a new Bush Hog Brand cutter. Will the BH25 be to heavy for my 4610 JD?

I mentioned tossing the MX6 and bought a 286 bush hog. and the question of slip clutch keeps coming up. so took the shaft and slip clutch off the JD gear box and installed on bush hog gear box. This was close to 4 years ago and each year clear 80 acres of brush vines and tall grass . so far each time the bush hog loads up by brush the slip clutch slips like it should.
So feel maybe just a chance it might be the gear box failure was cause.
This has been a cooler and wetter year so brush is growing fast I am putting about 4 hours a day clearing the growth. not even looking back when the clang lets me know a rock had been picked up. or hear the change in bush hog when slip clutch is slipping.

We lost our Mx6 too. Was only 4 years old with 20 hours on it cutting grass. Worse cutter we've ever owned so back to Bush Hog we went. We still own 2 286's that work as new and are over 10 years old now.

Well, I have a MX8 with Spain boxes and an MX5 with a China box. No problems so far.
That said, are the failures less for the smaller diameter blade sets?

Seems I see more MX6 issues than others. No real data though just what I remember. Probably more of those sold though too.
