Is there any problem to run Rotella T6, 5W40 synthetic in my Grasshopper mower that has a 25HP Kubota diesel? I can't imagine any issue but the Kubota engine booklet with it calls for 10W30, 10W40 or 15W40. So, is 5W40 oil OK to use?

Thank you in advance.

I see no problem. I run that in my Branson year round.

Well I am running T-6 in their gas engines (Kawasaki z 900RS and JD X-500 lawn tractor and they seem to like it just fine.

My guess is the only thing you will notice is if starting during cold weather, by having a faster cranking speed and faster build of oil pressure since it flows better cold than 15W - 40. quicker oiling in cold reduces dry start up wear imo.

I run T6 5w40 in my RTV and tractor because I use both of these in the cold depths of winter. Sure allows the engine to spin faster on those cold mornings.

Should be able to run that just fine. I run T6 15w 40 in my gas mowers and 5w 40 in anything that I'm starting in the winter (tractors). It was hit or miss on the store shelves for a while. I'm starting to see it in stock again.

T6 is nice stuff and you can run it in alot of different stuff, even motorcycles with wet clutches.

I'm the OP so it seems no problem with T6 Rotella in 5W30 and I'm going with it. I know it's great at 15W40 so I'll expect the same. You have to love these modern synthetics.

My sister has a Jeep Wrangler Islander with the little V six that specifies 0w-20 or 5w -20 oil At under 35000 miles started eating that thin oil, never any blue smoke but was down to around 500 miles a quart.

Everyone in our family group likes the 5w-40 T6 so we switched that Jeep over about 5 years ago. The oil use dropped Dramatically. Runs as well or better than with the thin stuff.

No Plans to ever put the oil printed on the filler cap back in.
