The big thing with MOST single axle trailers is weight and length. My JD 2025r is a little less than 2000 pounds bare weight. I‘d haul that on a single axle trailer. Add loaded tire, FEL, ballast box, mid mount mower, it gets over 3000 pounds and is to long for most single axle trailers.

I had been wanting a car-hauler trailer for years. 7k 18 footers were generally around $2500 by me, for a long long time. Just when I secured the funds to go get one, covid hit, plans delayed, the trailers all disappeared. And when they came back available, prices had gone up at least a thousand dollars. I sorta knew I needed a 10k trailer too, or else I would be maxing out a 7k all the time and feeling nervous. The local 10k trailers went from low $3's to over $5k over this same time period, if you could even find one.

So when a like-new, used, package deal for my Kioti ck3510 came up that included a 20', 10k car hauler exactly like I wanted, well that sealed the deal, and I pounced. I received the original sales receipt for the 20' 10k hauler, and it showed a $4100 price back in 2019. Which I thought was actually a pretty good deal. Same trailer now is closer to 6 grand, ouch.

I don't seem to have a great pic of it.

the tundra doesnt seem any smaller then the other 1/2 tons
Driveline wise, it is. and that is where it counts. Domestic trucks have a much more robust driveline, but then no 1/2 ton truck works for me. If it's not at least a 3/4 ton, I'm not interested and far as RAM trucks go, their 3/4 ton trucks use coil springs on the rear axle and are inboard (inside the frame rails) mounted. I don't consider coil springs to be heavy duty rated at all. I want leaf springs out back and leaves in the front tooo, which negates IFS front suspension.

I have solid axles (Dana 60 front, Corporate 10.5 out back). Rides like a lumber wagon empty but loaded it's peachy.

When did Dodge go to rear coil springs? My 2007 2500 with 5.9 Cummins has leaf springs, and I also added a leaf to each side when I had a cab over camper. I thought just the 1500 has coil springs?

My neighbor is the general manager of a large Toyota dealership. He owns a Tacoma and a Dodge 2500. He has made the same comments you did about the Tundra, but he loves the Tacoma for hunting and off road use.

Tacoma for hunting and off road use.
Limited off road use. They don't have the ground clearance. Far as hunting goes, I walk in or ride in via horseback not drive. Vehicles tend to limit your chances of getting an animal. As a rule, horses or mules have plenty of ground clearance and they don't spook game either.
