Great. I tried to resist your post but couldn't. Now it's 9:30. Linguisa in the frying pan and what am I doing? ... listening to Lonsome George (One Burbon...) while the house is shaking :D ... looks like dinners at 11:00

Sorry, you have to know OLD Klipsch to get it ...

boy did you hit that on the head. no way can you describe what these things sound like other than "big".

(well, I have called them vicious before, but in a good way  )

regarding yours being up for sale, I don't know if you've made any other publications of that other than above. If not, my guess is not many here (based on responses) know old klipsch that much and will get it.

If you want to list them for sale, I'd ask you do one of two things.

Go to www.klipsch.com and list it on their forum. Understandably, that forum is full of Klipsch-a-holics  My guess is you'll have them sold pretty quickly AND they'd most likely be willing to come pick them up.

Doing a pickup seems to be the best way with these things. Heck, I drove from knoxville to Chicago (about 12 hours or so) when I bought my Klipschorns.

If you don't want to go to the effort of putting them on the Klipsch site yourself, then send me a pm on how I can contact you and I'll do the legwork for you. I've been a member here for a short while  and been one there for a shorter while. We can get your babies sold if you want to and they could go to someone who gets Klipsch and would appreciate them as much as you have.

Lemme know :)

Thanks for the tip Richard. I'll get with the Klipsch forum or you. I'm to have my 50th birthday next weekend and expect to use them for their intended purpose at least one more time ... I just have to get all the "old folks" (most younger than me) to find something else to do ... you know, "all my rowdy friends have settled down" :(

I have a set of Heresy's from the early 80's that have been in the original boxes for the last 14 years (since we moved last). I admit that I miss them, but I haven't anywhere to put them in the new house. I do like the sound though.

Count me as a Klipsch guy as well. When I got out of college in the late 80's I bought a pair of Klipsch Chorus's. Those things rocked with my Adcom GFA-555 Amp. I had them for a number of years, but when we built our first house, it was a pretty small place and they just didn't fit well in the living room. As much as I hated it, after about 10 years, I ended up trading them in for a pair of Energy Pro Series 4.5's. The Energy's have a much smaller footprint but are definately overmatched by the Adcom.

Of course now we've built another house with a large family room in addition to a more formal livingroom. Maybe I should start looking for a pair of old Klipsch's again.

I had a kind TBN feller PM me as to the status of my Klipsch La Scala's. I still have them but, I hadn't actually thought about them for a while.
I had programed my amp to the front 3 channels (Klipsch's are the "rears"), ya know for the 1 hour of tv I watch per night.
Well, I went to messing w/ the settings on the amp and fired up the monsters ... I had forgoten what I was dealing with. I put "Lonsome George" on and situated my table fan to add needed cooling to the amp (cheap amp, still good after 10 yrs of abuse). I'm single, so, I park my tractor on my patio, right next to my house. On a parallel thought, I start my Baby to get some work done. Thank god diesels shake as much as they rattle ... I couldn't hear her run. Life is good. (had to turn the gain down to keep the dishes in the cupboard)

I knew they had sold out but checking klipsch.com I was thrilled to see they're all still manufactured right in Mr Bill's hometown of Hope, AR as they have been since '46.

My folks bought me a pair of La Scala's when I graduated high school some 30 years ago, they will outlive me and my kids will fight over them when I'm gone. When they have friends over they always want me to que up some ancient vinyl on my old B & O turntable and blow out the cobwebs. Gives me shivers up my spine every time when I play some blues/jazz saxophone through those horns... Junior Walker, "Sax" Gordon Beadle, Willis "Gator" Jackson, a genre of music I really don't care for unless played on Klipsch speakers.

You guys have inspired me. Gonna turn-on the old Quad Electrostatics, have the Rabco drop the stylus on my half speed master copy of 'Abbey Road' and just sit back with a 'cold one'.

Ah, but is it on "virgin" vinyl? :D Remember that? The ultimate; half speed mastered on virgin vinyl.

I have a set of klipsch surround speakers for my entertainment system, they are great. They are about 10 years old and still sound just as good as any that I have heard. I think they are by far the best for the money.....

Too bad your ears are not as good as they were ten years ago:D. That's one area where your tractor time can have a negetive effect - if you are not wearing protection that is...

my best friends dad still has his set of altec santiago's.... As a kid they sat in the living room as plant stands... I hooked him up with a speaker replair place that rebuilt them for him.... I got to use them a couple of times for a couple of DJ events at my church when i was a kid.

About the same time i aquired a pair of JBL L100's and had the mids and tweeters rebuilt.

To this day they are my front channel of my Home theater. most everyone that comes over and watches a film asks why i dont have a sub... till we turn on the movies..... 2 12" are better than one

last year the same friend brought his refrance mike and pink noise generator over so we could determine exactly how good my HT did sound.

In test mode i was within %3 of flat at normal listening level. We put the ear plugs in and turned up my weenie harmon karden AVR35...108db

I'm not an audiophile, but dabbled in it years ago through my college room mate who had Dahlquist speakers, B&O turn table, Nakamichi tape deck and the rest Carver. I suspect it was a bit wasted on me. (It was also wasted on out tiny room (cell) at the Citadel.

I have an uncle, who I would describe as a classical music lover rather than an audiophile, who had Klipsch speakers and a Macintosh system for years. He had the money to get anything he wanted and that's what he got and kept. And when I say he was a classic music llover, it was a serious thing. He had whole walls of CDs and albums. Several record lables sent him stuff for review before it was released. His health is declining rapidly, but I think he still has and uses the Klipsch speakers.
