Tractor
Kubota MX4800 with BH-90X hoe; Hustler FastTrack 48; B3300SU (sold); 1969 Case 680B CK (sold)
I found this small sheared-off crown nut in my driveway today. Any ideas on what it came from?

This is an area where multiple machines travel including:
Kubota tractor,
-Hustler ztr,
-Deere branded push mower,
-all my tractor Implements,
-multiple automobiles,
-kids stuff like bikes and metal tonka toys I scrounge from the dump.
-multiple small engines things like chainsaws, trimmers, etc.

If it needed a crown nut it's probably important but I don't know where to start. Help!

Check the steering linkages and suspension on the cars and tractors would be my first guess.

Looks like a crown nut off a tie rod end. Seeing the bent nail or bent welding rod keeper I'd say (hope) its off farm machinery. No doubt the tie rod is going to come out now so check all the steering tie rods closely.

Maybe off a sickle bar mower as well.

Nope, not off a tie rod. FWIW those were a fair amount bigger on all my machines.

They will be smaller on cars than big machines i think. Time to jack up the grocery getters

Everything checked out except the wife's minivan! And she has the kids! Ive been trying to reach her on cell. She bad about answering. At least that's what I'm telling myself...

Edit I talked to her. I'll walk her through checking before she drives anywhere.

Maybe double check the wife's van when she gets home just to be sure. Ive seen them on odd stuff too like shift linkages but honestly it may be really hard to find where that came from.

Is your driveway gravel? It may have been in the gravel the entire time. Could be from a visitors car... could be something weird up on machine you own. Do you have an atv? They use them too. You mentioned implements....

Basically you found the needle and now you have to locate which haystack is short a needle.

Check the linkage on a zero-turn controls. The ones I've seen have had crown nuts around that size to attach the linkage to a lever.
