Antique Implements?

/ Antique Implements? #21
As I promised, Harv. Here is a photo of my two spring-tooth harrows. My father had about four of these and a couple of the straight-tooth harrows. My two brothers and I have them, but they are mostly just a curiousity piece rather than seeing actual use.

Here is another "curious" implement I have which works very well to prepare lawns before seeding. I've never seen another one of these, but I pull this little aerator behind my old Gilson 16hp hydrostatic mower and it aerates the soil and makes little holes which collect seed. When I water in the seed (my ground is sloped) they don't wash away or collect in one spot.

...and yes...that is poison oak growing in the middle of it./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Jim -

Both of those tools do look like the same vintage as my spikey-thing harrow. Useful in their day, I guess, working a small plot of well-tilled soil, but I'm thinking like you -- they make better decorations than real implements at this point. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
