Well, for some reason the great state of Florida is going to have another recount.

Reno has just demanded a manual recount of the entire state.

Did the state just switch to computors?

Maybe just a desperate attempt to grandstand for more votes... election time is right around the corner, you know.

Yea for Reno (that miserable @@@!!%%$&&!).

This is actually funny..a Democrat (Reno) going after other Democrats (the counties concerned are controlled by the Democraps).

Well, at least this diverts the bad publicity Jeb Bush is getting about his drug addled daughter.

They supposedly went with a very simple to use "Touch Screen" voting machine. I know in some area they had some technical difficulties getting started and Jeb told them to extend the voting hours. I am glad it was a primary and not a general election. There would be finger pointing if it had been. Of course they could go the route "Oh Jeb was scared that (insert candidate name here______) so he rigged the primary. Why is it that one particular party has trouble voting?

Florida turned her down. No recount. But......once again they have "discovered" a lot of uncounted ballots so they will be added in. Funny how that always seems to work in heavily democrat areas. They find out who's ahead, then they "discover" a bunch of uncounted ballots.

Not like Missouri tho. Everybody laughed because a dead man won the election last time. But what didn't make the headlines was how he won. Seems that at the last minute, there was a huge surge of dead people that voted in St Louis for the dead man. Guess he did a lot of campaigning in the afterlife.

I guess it makes sense that a dead man would carry the dead vote.

I like how they "found" some votes that hadn't been counted yet ...

I thought they went to electronic voting. Did they find some electrons laying on the floor and by looking at them on an oscilliscope they could tell the "Voter Intent".

Seems like I watched this movie once before?????

What I really feel sorry for is that when their was talk of putting her in jail for her wonderful services as AG , she was very very sick , after that talk was over she feels good enough to run for Fla. ...maybe it's the idea that if they had Fla, then we would have AlGore for pres...........
Very Scary

I think I heard that while the voting is done by touch screen, the machine still spits out a card.....hopefully with fewer pregnant chads./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Jeff, it's my understanding that they've sterilized all the pregnant chads .... and elimnated the rope so there'd be no more hanging chads.
And they're also going to the famous Supreme Court of Florida (motto: Law? Law? Only if it favors Democrats!) to have the name offically changed from Chad (too preppy) to Janet. They all felt that "hanging Janets" had much more cachet!

I'm not sure how it works and have never seen one of the touch screen machines so I'm guessing.

They spoke of some scanners jamming and tearing the ballots so I guess you vote with the screen, get an opportunity to review your selections then it kicks out a printed sheet that has to be read by a scanner.

That should be an advantage since the computer can tell you how many voted and the scanner can tell you how many were scanned. If those numbers don't match, you have a box of uncounted ballots somewhere or someone feeding bogus ballots through the scanner depending on which number is high.

But.....you have to have people who are smarter than the machine to work it.

Got this article from Newsmax.com:

Janet Reno's Votescam

Janet Reno is not accepting the Florida vote count that gave the Democratic primary election to attorney Bill McBride.

Reno is now arguing that vote fraud and other irregularities helped her opponent win, and she says that just four of 81 disputed precincts turned up 1,818 uncounted votes.

If she can shave just a few thousand votes off McBride's lead, she would be eligible for an immediate state-wide recount.

If she goes ahead, bet on fresh votes for Reno turning up.

Reno is no stranger to vote fraud. A former state's attorney for Miami-Dade, Reno is an old pro on how South Florida elections work.

For example, investigative reporters James Collier and Ken Collier detailed in their 1992 book Votescam how they uncovered pre-printed voter ballots in a warehouse rented by a Miami political candidate.

Following the advice of their editor, the reporters seized the evidence and took the illegal ballots to the State's Attorney, Janet Reno.

Incredibly, Reno had the journalists arrested, rather than investigate how a candidate had pre-printed ballots in his possession!

When we saw this past primary that McBride was leading Reno by 100,000 votes statewide, with 60 percent of precincts reporting, and Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach not reporting even hours after the close of balloting, and after almost every other county had reported, we knew exactly what was happening.

It is a time-honored tradition, perhaps refined by the Daley machine of Chicago, to hold vote counts until the last minute. This way, the machine could figure out just how many votes it needed to come up with close the gap and "win."

We knew this was taking place in these three counties on election night 2000, when the three Florida counties took so long to report - but conveniently closed the gap between Bush and Gore.

It is unbelieveable that both Broward and Dade would claim they still had a significant number of precincts not report 24 hours after the close of ballots.

If Reno gets a recount, bet on the gap between her and McBride to close even more.

Just a thought as to why it seems Florida (to date anyway) is the only state that has these ballot issues. I mean they investigate for a year or more, a committee reviews the problem they throw $10+ million dollars at it and they still cant get it right.

Maybe we need a universal voting system oversee by regulators like they have in other countries where a vote seems to be missed or over counted?

Just seems odd in Florida again.
