Not one to listen to all the safety police all the time I decided to build this platform to hold a scaffold plank. The top rail is about 15' high and will have an add on handrail that will socket in place when needed. I built this to install some gutters on a new house which is part of a rain water collection system.

The ladder rungs on each end are made to fit a standard 84" long by 19.5" wide alluminum scaffold board. I used square tubing 1 1/4" for most of it and am adding a 2" square tubing rear brace to connect to the forklift backrest with retaining pins. Need to touch up a few welds and paint it.

That's going to be a great platform. I bought and used a commercially available work platform to use with my all terrain forklift while building a 40x60 two story storage metal building on my daughter's property in CA back in 2006. I'd park it 22' up and then use my 27' extension ladder to get up to it. I sold the forklift to my brother and forgot about the work platform. Two weeks ago I found the it in the tall weeds near the building while visiting my daughter. I'm going to take it back to my place in the Rockies and use it with my L39. It's so much easier to work on a platform versus on a ladder!
Good luck with it,
Jim

I found a website for government liquidation of surplus equipment. I bought two lifts for working on jet engines. They used a hand pump to raise them up. One was missing the cylinder and the other it was in pretty rough shape. I modified them so I could attach them to forks and replaced the cylinder with a solid piece of pipe. The best thing about them is, and if you can do the same, that three of the four side railings can be removed. The fourth is a swing door that also can be removed. They probably extend about 10 feet. I bet I have $50 into the whole thing.

I don't think I would feel safe lifting it with a sub compact tractor but my 580k barely shakes when someone jumps into the basket. Also because there's lots of tubing and an expanded metal floor it's easy to use straps to tie off a ladder to the basket. Basically it's a portable 20' lift. Looks like you've got the same idea.

Jim, I wasn't lucky enough to find what I needed so I had to build it.:)

crazyal, I plan to use the 110 with the forks to position the platform and use a ladder to get in and out between moves. With scaffold board this thing weighs about 175 lbs total. So this is a small load for the tractor.

Finished all of it tonight including the paint, will take some pics of the completed lift tomorrow.:D

Steve,
I look forward to seeing it ready to go. Even if I only use my platform once every 6 months or so it's better with me up in the Chama area than in the weeds.
Awaiting the pics,
Jim

Jim, Chama is a very scenic address, the background for my dog's picture is at Conchas Lake.

Beautiful dog!! I've never been to the Conchas Lake. What I love about the Chama Area (actually I'm 10 miles South by the Brazos Cliffs) is that I'm an hour and a half from the nearest stoplight. Around me is where the state releases mountain lions that get tranquilized and released into the wild. Its a beautiful area!
Take care,
Jim

Finally got a chance to take a few pics of the finished platform. Not shown are the top safety rails which socket in place when using the highest position. Will install gutters around the house and the door in the picture is 12ft high as I recall.

Did not grind the welds on this as I was more concerned about strength than appearance. Painted with primer and Deere construction yellow. Replaced the plywood on the scaffold board I have had for years, finally have a good use for it.:D

Looks nice Steve, I assume the platform is chained to the forks brick-guard or some other place. I wouldn't have ground the welds either. In that case, cosmetics can take a back seat.

That Laurin cab looks real good.
