Looking to pull rocks and length if wood from rear of tractor. What would be better, full 3 pt cat 1 hitch with 2 " receiver with hook or drawbar with receiver?

I can't seem to find what is a good overall purpose for a drawbar and the weight they will support. They are a lot less expensive than the solution above ~ $150.

Thanks for your time.

hi weeble, this is not "Another Noob question" in my opinion. It is more of a safety concern for Tractor Operator awareness.

First trying to answer your question, I have a question. Does your tractor have a receiver/slot under the rear axle? Most do, and that is were the proper drawbar should be installed. Possibly just a "bolt, short length of chain and a hook" might connect where the drawbar is supposed to go, easiest and low cost.

Many people, including me, use some type of 3pt drawbar or 3pt attachment for pulling. There are risks involved if not paying attention and observing some safe practices.
* a pull point above the rear axle puts the tractor at risk of a rollover. this could easily be over looked or forgotten using the 3pt.
* some 3pt systems do not have hydraulic power down. lets say a loaded trailer connected to the 3pt could rise and become a hazard.
* plus more concerns I'm not thinking of at present.

Think ahead, be Safe and most important - Have Fun!

yes, my tractor had a place to attach a ball, but it is so low and right below the PTO. The drawbars I see on Northern tool or others go between the Cat 1 link EMP Tractor Draw Bar Stabilizer for Category 1 Tractors, Model# 7350-1 | 3-Point Drawbars + Stabilizers | Northern Tool + Equipment

or http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200315615_200315615

The first is descrobed more as a drawbar stabilizer but looks like they attached a 2" receiver. Having the 2" receiver is my ultimate goat so 1) can attach a trailer 2) use a drawbar hook like a bove to attach chain for pulling logs and rocks.

Some fellows have built a frame for the three point like in the attachment.
These pictures are of one Lloyd Nauss built and shows it being used.:D
