The tractor is leaking hydraulic oil from the "lowering speed" control knob under the front of the seat.

Is it a simple o-ring?

Can I replace it by removing knob? Does the knob "sit" on a taper, I can not pry it off with nut removed, but did try much force at all as I don't want to damage it.

I have looked at the down loaded service manual provided by a member here (thank you). but it stops at the end of chapter 5 and hydraulics are chapter seven.

The transmission diagram shows it being a simple cap held on with the four bolts, should I remove it to gain access to the seal?

I have factory parts and repair manuals.

The o-ring shown as Part #16: 0830 1100 100 looks to be largish like perhaps 1.5"
Below the knob is a plug #13 that appears to also have a small o-ring PN #15

To get access at either o-ring the cap behind the knob would need removing and looking at the diagram caution as some parts could fly. *
4 machine screws , each corner to remove that cap. (knob is in center of said plate)

*blow up of cap and associated parts =22 items, many are small.

If the leak is not serious I would be tempted to live with it INHO.

Thank you for the reply, the leak is from the shaft itself. The leak is pretty good.
