Kioti knows as they would have detailed information on each reported cracked loader. They have never announced whether it was a lot specific problem but I really doubt it. Firstly the problem affected both KL120 and KL130 loaders which have slightly different designs and are not made at exactly the same time on any assembly line. Second, it was pretty clear from the few people who did report serial numbers when Becky was trying to collect them via TBN that the numbers were not all together. Third, there is no way that Kioti would have done a general "recall" repair with the attendent expense if they had been able to isolate the problem to a few lot numbers.
I'm glad this loader fiasco is almost behind us but I fear the Korporate Kioti has yet to learn the lesson that open communication with customers, even if the news is bad or embarrassing, is a far wiser strategy than enforcing a news black out and limiting their customer service reps from discussing the problem.
