Tractor
JD LX288 and a B7800
Hey guys .. am I losing my mind? Today in our old barn I found a pair of tire chains, undoubtedly to fit the large vintage green tractor from the previous owner. These chains when spread out are 10 ft. by 1-1/2 feet. I was thinking of halving them and linking the four sections to get a 5 x 6 chain mat to drag behind my LX288 (18hp) in the horse paddocks.

How crazed am I?

If they are in good shape you can easily sell them and buy a chunk of chain link for $5 to do what you want to. Tire chains for some odd sized tires like vintage tractors go for around$50-$75 depending on your area. You can advertise them or put them on ebay or go to a tractor show and talk to the people there and see if anyone is interested. I have two sets that fit a 11.2-24 that both my JD M and Allis B use. I do not use either tractor in the snow anymore but won't get rid of them just in case.
