[h=1]AmazonCommercial 4' LED Shop Light, 4000 Lumens, Linkable, Pull Chain, Cool White 6500K, ETL and Energy Star Certified | 8-Pack[/h]
$48.07

They link by using a normal wall plug and are limited to linking 3.
I've now bought 24 and had only 1 DOA out of the first 8.
Tradeoff seems to be "claimed lumens" but for $6@ they seem worth it.

Whoa! That’s pretty good! So you’d recommend them? My finger is hovering over the “buy” button.

I'd recommend them but check the price closely. I first bought them at $56/8, then watched the price then watched the price jump up to over $100/pack. Look at CamelCamelCamel. Buy in the dip :)

Longevity. How LONG have you had them and have they dimmed?

There is a balance somewhere between the cheap LEDs and the higher priced ones that I haven't found yet, but not all LEDs are created equal. Some of the cheaper ones simply don't last.

Another thing no one seems to have addressed is durability. I've switched most of my house, inside and out to LED, but I'll be up that creek in a serious way if a lightning strike takes them all out. They're electronic semi conductors after all and would seem to be very susceptible to surge damage.

I have found that these cheap LED Shop lights last roughly 3 to 4 months. Especially the one's from Menards. Make sure you keep your receipt.

I only buy "cheap LED shop lights". I've been buying them since 2015 (see this thread).Sources have been Amazon, Costco, Sams, Home Depot, Lowes and I think one batch from Blains Farm and Fleet. I've got them strung all over my shops:
outside-shops-cropped.jpg
and two residences (in the full basements) and use some as carry around worklights. Some are single tube systems that are great as cabinet lights for pallet racking. I've only had about four die on me, including the one from this last batch.

/edit - back in the 1990's my wife got suckered into buying incandescent 60 watt bulbs from some charity "guaranteed" to last 5 years. I finally started labeling them with the date written on with a black sharpie. They would last less than a year.
Now that the price of these LED lights has dropped to $48 for 8 they are almost throwaway.

These replace a standard 4' fluorescent bulb that uses 40 watts but they don't say how many watts they use. Does anyone know the wattage?

I *assume* the "40wat" means 40 watts or 100 lumens/watt. Sorta mediocre.

We don't have Menard's around here so I can't speak for theirs, but it depends on what you use them for. Cheap Chinese shop lights are probably not your best choice if you're using them 8+ hr/day, but for a garage workshop they should be fine. I've got quite a few from HF or Ocean State Job Lots and haven't had any trouble with them. Then again, they're only used a few hours a week for the most part.

Given how fast the technology changes these days, it's almost not worth getting the "good ones", especially for a homeowner. That having been said, I hate how disposable so much stuff is.

Can anyone comment on the amount of radio interference that these lights produce? I have one of the Harbor Freight 4' led work lights above a workbench and it makes a lot of noise on any nearby radio. FM not so bad but AM gets enough noise to make it unlistenable. Even the car radio gets some interference.

I see that the price is now $44.62 for 8 lights.

I changed all my 4' fixtures over to LED two years ago using Amazon's Barrina 24w 6000K bulbs. I have 26 fixtures with two LED tubes in each, with no failures. Granted, only a boot a little less than have get used every day. But they are great. I like the bright white 6000K, good for old eyes. Just had to yank out the old ballasts and wire for the LED's. What ever you go with, the LED's point all the light downward. The florescents get dirty on top of the bulb, combine with the white of the reflector getting dirty, you loose a lot of lumens over time. No radio interference, start quickly in the winter. Life is good..... STAY SAFE When I bought them they were a boot $148, now they are down below $100.

Jeez, only $44 right now. For 8x 4000 lumen lights. And I thought my $20 apiece costco 3800 lumen LED shop lights were a bargain just a couple years ago!

I have a dozen of the Costco ones. All working great several are probably 5 years old or so. One thing about Costco is they do a great job in vetting suppliers for quality.

Why mess with 4' when you can have 8'

Barrina LED Shop Light, 8FT 72W 8500LM 5000K, Daylight White, V Shape, Clear Cover, Hight Output, Linkable Shop Lights, T8 LED Tube Lights, LED Shop Lights for Garage 8 Foot with Plug (Pack of 10) Barrina LED Shop Light, 8FT 72W 85LM 5K, Daylight White, V Shape, Clear Cover, Hight Output, Linkable Shop Lights, T8 LED Tube Lights, LED Shop Lights for Garage 8 Foot with Plug (Pack of 1) - - Amazon.com

Bought 20 for my pole barn.

I needed a certain amount of lumens at floor level and lights being mounted 14ft high are a factor so played with this calculator to try to make educated guess as to what I needed:

Lux/Lumens Calculator: How Much Light Do You Need?

I tried Home Depot and Lowes but to get same amount of light was going to run me around $1,200 - $1,400. I used 15 of the above lights in pole barn (and 5 elsewhere) and they perform better than I expected.

They come with a plastic protective film on them. Make sure you peel that off or it won't be a bright.

The ones I've installed so far (~5) make virtually no FM radio interference at 30 feet. I've an FM radio that's always on ~ 30ft from the lights.

Thanks for the info. The problem now is that the price has nearly quadrupled to $185 for the 8-pack. Hopefully it will come back down.

Newbury,

Very nice deal! I bought 12 of them at costco for the new shop a few months ago, I needed 5 more, so this was a sweet deal..
I hope they are as nice as the ones costco sells.
Thank You for posting this up.:D

Yeah would love a side by side (ceiling by ceiling) comparison between these and the Costco ones.

I'd like to see a a side by side (ceiling by ceiling) comparison between new units and ones of the same brand that have been up for a few years. I'm still not convinced of longevity and loss of brilliance over time (I know I've lost quite a bit of that).
