Android app issues

Nope, no updates in 6 months. Every single bug noted is still there.

I'd mentioned Tapatalk not sucking & being a good option. Although the recent version of Tapatalk sucks bad, so confusing, cluttered & disorganized compared to how it use to work.

Tapa talk has never done a good job of keeping track of where I am at in a thread. That is one thing that I think tbn excels at, always knows exactly where I left off regardless of which plarform I used last... pc or phone app.

Every time you post using android it hangs waiting with contacting site. End up cancelling trying again..... Says duplicate post

The app has ISSUES and it appears they don't care. .

viewing pictures and posting them also sucks 75-90% of the time i always have to clear the image cache

Gotta say... Tapatalk version 4.11.2.... FIXED there problems. It's back as the best forum app that I'm aware of. You guys should consider it.

I think they have to go for Tapatalk, if Forumrunner don't rise from the dead nothing will happen to the Tractorbynet app as it are based on it.

Do anybody of the crew running this forum read this thread? Status?

That's what I have been wondering. The only response we have gotten has basically said that the app is fine because it loaded fine on the admin's phone and that the problem is with out connections? This is the only app that I have issues with, so I don't think it's a connection issue. I can load/read tbn through the browser just fine, but what a pain.

As I stated before, I really like the app when/if it functions the way it is supposed to. I would prefer them not switch to tapatalk, but if that's what it takes to get it to work then I guess there is no choice.

Oh yeah, the one other complaint I have is that there is no way to see anyone's location or signatures on the app. I understand it is probably to save space/bandwidth but I wish there was at least an option to click on a user to see that info.

The alternative to Tapa is a mobile friendly site design.
I don't know how large percentage of the users are on mobile/pads but where I live it is the by far the most important platform.

Over the past 2-3 years I've gone from doing 90% of Internet activity on a pc to now 90% done on smartphone. Next purchase most likely tablet and then it will be 99%. They need to fix the app or get something else.

I realize that updating code isnt free I'd be willing to pay $4-5 for a working version or at least one that gets updated to try and fix the issues

$2 will get you a slightly newer one (Apr 2013 vs Dec 2012): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.endoftime.android.forumrunner&hl=en
Edit: Never mind, I just installed a newer version from a different site (1.3.18.1 vs the 1.3.18 that TBN runs) and it has the same issues with images not loading and half of the bar at the bottom.

I agree, especially since as of now the app is ad-free. I'm guessing this site is generating the revenue it was at some point as more people use the app and the banner clicks have probably decreased.

Though I could see it now in the play store... "download the tbn app for free... and for $3.99 you can get the version that works!"

If tbn is already created by forum runner, why would it not have the same issues? And if forum runner works well, why doesn't tbn?

So the unfortunate reality about Forumrunner (our app developer) is that development of the app as well as bug fixes slowed considerably when the founder of the company sold to Internet Brands.

We're considering a couple of options to provide a better mobile experience, the most likely being a mobile version of the site.

Right now about 30% of our traffic is mobile and only a tiny portion of that is through the app. I suspect that would go up with a mobile theme/responsive design.

It's on my to-do list to address over the next 4-6 weeks.

Thank you for the update. Would a connection from a mobile device using a Web browser requesting desktop site show up in your 30 percent sample? That is how I often connect because the droid app is so bad with photos.

I use Chrome on my android. It works ok, but no easy way to upload photos that I know of. Anyone know how?

A good design that works in any modern mobile browser are the best solution, suppose easy handling of picture upload might be the tricky part.
