It has changed a lot in my lifetime... 5 generations called Oakland home... so the roots go deep.
The big changes/transitions came about in the 60's... the Panthers, ****'s Angels, Earth First, Symbionese Liberation, Weather Underground... etc.
It was the Panthers walking around the city with rifles that ushered in the first gun laws.
The new law on magazine capacity and ammo purchases make a lot of law abiding citizens on the wrong side of the law...
Gun Shops have just about become extinct... the public ranges are all closed due to "Environmental" issues.
Yet with all the hoopla, murders are a common occurrence.
I/We do have the best neighbors... every last one... both in my parents neighborhood and mine...
We just keep hoping for the pendulum to swing back... but it so far it only swings one way... may stall for a time but never reverses.
I thought Washington would be a good move and have found Olympia to very close politically with the Bay Area...
Half the time the local range was used by Law Enforcement for training and it closed last month after 75 years because parks need to send a message that guns are not wanted.
