Ammunition

If I lived in a cold area.. I'd use mag primers on any ammo calling for a mag primer.

Keep in mind by not using a mag primer, you are/may/probably aren't, developing the book pressure that is stated in the load chart. Thus if you were making rounds for a specific velocity, or point of impact issue ( even target shooting ), then your choice of a non mag primer, could be effecting the issues I mentioned.

Probably not an issue, and can be factored for in shooting.. just tossing it out there for other possibly inexperienced reloaders that maynot have understood the question or why it was asked. ;)

Anyone build an AK lately? I am not a huge fan of AK (I think for civilian use an SKS is more practical) but I was thinking about doing one. But, by the time you get the parts kit, the barrel, the parts you missed, and reciever, it seems like you would be cheaper to just buy one. The darn parts kits I'm seeing are all $379 without a barrel.... another issue is it seems those cheaper parts kits are all for folding stock variants, when I would want fixed wooden stock.

Yeah, that's what it looks like, and frankly is I'm going to be in a kit build for $600, the Vepr 6.5 Grendel might call my name for another $150. The Vepr are some nice looking guns

I made these up last night. 357 target plinkers.

158gr lswc over 4.5gr titegroup. federal 1x brass ( from that box ) pictured ;) and fed MSPP

PS.. I noticed you are not using magnum primers?

Nice roll crimp!

Looks just like the 158's I make with my 2 cavity mold.

Somebody just had to post a pic of a sexy bull pup SKS recently and now I'm thinking I want to build one!

If you want to build a AK as cheap as possible ... look for people doing AK build parties and go to one. Get you some receiver flats and someone at the party will have jig to bend them etc. ;)

If money is no object ... get the real thing made right here in the US (another thing you can thank Obama for ... he truly is the best firearms salesman in the galaxy) Kalashnikov USA | Russian Heritage — American Innovation

When they talk about it on the news, they make 500 rounds sound like a life time supply. It's nothing to blow off 100 rnds of 7.62x39, 9x18, 9x19, ect in a afternoon.

Yes, there are a lot out there that seem to think if you have 500 rounds of of each caliber and keep a few calipers then you are some sort of maniac. Usually when I go shoot though I easily use a few hundred rounds and that's if I'm by myself. If my wife comes too the numbers increase quick and that "big stockpile" disappears quick.
