Amazon?

If the local farm store or TSC doesnt have it, then its a 30-40min trip to get to *any* other store. Amazon delivery, here, is getting better and faster all the time. Many items are 2nd day, with many being next day. I can order that 'Oh crap, I dropped it' stainless M6 nylon locking nut (ok, 5ea) and have it dropped of the next afternoon with no extra shipping.. Couple that with prime video and music, and I'd say it works out pretty good.

That problem is definitely localized. We get many things same or next day. Maybe because Texas?
Depends on the where the closest distribution center is.

I order a lot of stuff from amazon. Not only do you get the prime shipping, if something goes wrong with the item, there is no charge to ship it back.

Many items you get 30 days, or longer to return them.
Some things I purchase on Amazon, I can't find local.

If Prime was 200 bucks a year I would still pay the 200 bucks. Shipping costs from other vendors would be way more than that. And shipping isn't any faster from other vendors. I started using Prime years ago because shipping costs were getting outrageous. I save so much time not driving somewhere to buy something. I usually don't mind waiting a few days for stuff and 3 days is about average for the stuff I order. That includes industrial as well as home stuff.

Yeah, I forgot about the easy and convenient return policy. Never any issue, even if the reason for returning something is my fault, e.g., ordered the wrong thing, or didn't like it - whatever. For items ordered in October (for early christmas shopping) you could return them until January 31st - just drop them off at a UPS store for instant refunds. What's not to like?

My experience with Prime is that it really doesn't change anything or provide any benefits. I did sign up with Prime to try it out and found that the shipping isn't any faster, the movies can't be played (because my satellite link is to slow), and I didn't try anything else. So I cancelled Prime and I still get the free shipping.

I queue up stuff to order until I meet the free shipping criteria. And I also check other stores for pricing. One thing I get is 6x more expensive on Amazon than if I pick it up at the store. It's not something we need, just something we like, so it can wait for a trip to visit the kids.

I will buy locally if I can, but if they don't have it, it will be several weeks (if then) before the local store can get it. Amazon can get it to me in about a week.

I wish I"d known that last fall. No big deal, but I when I cancelled my Prime I still had 3 weeks left on some premium video I'd paid for but could no longer use. They SHOULD have issued a refund anyways, and I didn't know how to ask for it. 10 bucks is ten bucks, and better in my pocket than theirs.

yep, GF ordered some sweat shirts for me due to not being able to locate any in the stores. She ordered the wrong size. No problem, just sent them back @ N.C. and ordered the correct size.

I ordered some leather gloves. Used them to put up barbed wire fence. They came apart within a week. No problem, sent them back N.C. and got a refund.

Yea, but they have to pay for moving a bridge to get it out of the harbor. I get free shipping on Amazon items with prime. I really like prime tv.
