Alternator?

I have a 2018 4520C and it looks like the alternator has died. The tachometer stopped working but I still had work to do so I ran for two days. Then the tractor stalled and the battery didn't have the juice to start it. Never had a warning light but that's how it looks. Jump started and got it back to the house.

Now I'm searching for a replacement and can't find one anywhere. Anybody got any idea where to get one?

It's a 2018, so should still have warranty? Anyway, the dealer should be able to help you out.

Yeah, the tach runs out of that single spade connector on the back of the alternator, so that was indeed an indicator. I've had alternators fail on me and never once saw the battery warning light on the dash either.

Looks like you'll need to go to an autoparts store and match one up.
I did get a lot of hits for "4190 alternator 12v 70a", so you might get lucky.

I would start with the warranty query. If there's no warranty remaining my next stop would be to a starter and alternator repair shop. It could be a really simple fix.

I agree, your warranty should cover it. 2nd choice, take it to an alternator shop and have it repaired. As the tach does depend on the alternator, getting something that "works" at a automotive parts house would be my last choice (pully gear ratios and electrical connections would have to be identical.)
Mine failed shortly after I bought the tractor and Branson replaced it... no questions even.

Even though alternator/starter rebuild shops are starting to get rare, I would try and find one. It's usually cheaper anyway.

That's only if warranty does not cover it.

I "think" the electric warranty on those is 2yrs.

It`s rare to have an alternator completely give up, usually one of the smaller components give up and are easily replaced or cheaply by a auto electrician. You say no warning light. it might be worth checking the lamp/bulb, if it gives up it would effect the charge and maybe the rev counter, might be worth checking the key switch.

I've had alternators fail on me and never once saw the battery warning light on the dash either.

Mine never lighted the battery warning light when it failed either. I know the bulb is good because it comes on when I first turn the key on. Don't know what is going on with that(?)

My motorcycle also has no alternator warning light. It has failed 4 times, after the first time I installed a volt meter so I can actually see if the alternator is working. After the alternator fails you can still ride a ways but as the battery get low it automatically shuts off the radio and that’s usually my first warning that the alternator has quit working, radio turns off so I look at volt meter and it shows low battery so I better find a safe place to get off the road pretty quick. I’m on my 4th alternator in only a little over 570,000 miles, the first 2 were 100% covered by Honda under warranty. I’ve been carrying a spare alternator ever since the warranty ran out.
