Kytractor,
My
B2910 has done everything I've asked it to do so far. Although I'm reasonably sure a
B7500 would have done what I needed, the
B2910 has the extra creature comfort options that I appreciate everytime I use the tractor. Since I expect to have this tractor for a long time, I felt the extra investment up front was well worth it. Please keep in mind, however, that in three years, I've barely got 80 hours on it, so I'm not on it every day, or even every week.
I don't use it to mow as I am on a small piece of property and can handle the mowing chores with a small Honda lawn tractor.
As much as I love the B series, the new L30 series is fantastic. If I had a "real" piece of property and were buying now, I'd probably talk myself into the
L3130, mostly 'cause it can be configured to accept a 9' backhoe, although all the other features on it are neat too.
If you're limiting yourself to the B series, I think the
B7800 and
B2910 will be functionally equivalent. I really appreciate the telescopic lower link ends on the
B2910, makes connection of 3 pt. implements a relatively painless task.
I started out looking at $10,000 "premium" garden tractors, found the Kubota
B7500 (the BX's were just appearing on the scene at the time) and ended up with the
B2910, and I am very happy with my decision. If this is going to be long-term purchase for you, as it was for me, figure out how much more per year your costs will be, amortized over 25 years or so, for the tractor you really want. Once you have the tractor, you'll find all sorts of things to do with it you haven't even thought of yet. Even with the limited use mine has seen, I think it's been worth every penny, and will continue to show that worth for a long time to come. And with the low interest rate available now, it's hard to turn down cheap money. (I got 7.49% when I bought mine, and I thought THAT was good at the time.)
Good Luck,
~Rick
