I have an Allied 380 loader, when I tilt the bucket all the way down and drag backwards, the bucket does not maintain position. If I hold the control handle down it will pressure up and hold in the down position. Same thing happens when I try to dig with the bucket, wont stay down unless I hold the control down while digging. Just changed the control valve, didn't help that problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Joe

Are you sure the valve lever is going back to neutral, and shutting off the flow to the cyl.

Do you have float?

When you push the lever fwd all the way, does it detent, and stay in place. Does the bucket float on the ground rising and falling with the lay of the land?

Most tractor loader valves will have float.

When you set the bucket, either up or down, it should stay set until you move the valve lever.

You should be able to raise the front wheels off the ground using down force, and remain there for a good while.
