Nice work on the wall, but a word of caution on a different subject. Check the oil on the spreader after storing it upside down before you use it. Don't ask how I know this.

What do they call that color, we make them at a couple of our plants here in Nova Scotia. They look very whitish in color, maybe its the sunshine. Without any color we call them natural.

I saw the blocks and wished I had used them for an earlier project. I am planning on building a couple of retaining walls in the future and will use the Allan blocks if I can get them in my area of Michigan.

That wall looks absolutely stunning. Very aestheticaly pleasing contour and step down. I had never heard of Allan until I read your thread. We built a wall a couple of years ago while living in AZ and used the locally available Pavestone Anchor wall system {HERE} , but I like your materials a LOT better.

We're planning a wall where we live now, so I did a Zip code search for Allan dealers in NC/VA. It only came back with the factory in MN /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Did you have a local dealer for your block, or did you get a shipment from the factory or distributor? I can only imagine what the fuel surcharges would be for a shipment of block these days.

These blocks were manufactured locally by Lafarge Building Materials. Their # is 478-781-1500. I'll bet there is a local concrete plant near where you live that manufactures Allan Block. Just start calling around to your local concrete plants and I'll bet you find them.
