Over the past few months, local people have been saying there is an albino deer/fawn in our field at times... I had yet to see it, until 2 days ago. My wife and I were able to ride the 4wheeler around the road above it quite close, and it bedded down, to hide. I walked over the hill with video rolling, and it took off...

I have never seen one before, live. About 25 years ago I saw a piebald (half white, half normal deer coloring) doe, so seeing this one, 50' away, on my farm, is simply awesome!

Tough to get the video to load, but well worth it. She looks perfect!!! Truly an amazing animal.

I had a hard time getting video to download to photo bucket, I hope that those who want to watch it, can.

Albino deer are quite rare and they seldom live long enough to grow up because they don't have the natural coloring to hide from predators.
These are even more unusual:

I wasn't close enough to tell you eye or nose color... but I'm sure it's fur is white! So, I guess it's possible it's not a true albino, but still unique enough in its own right. Sure does stand out against a background of green/brown field from 300 to 400 yards away... when we spotted it, all that could be seen was head and ears, at that distance across the valley below our barn.

The ones from the Seneca Army Depot are not albino(no pink eyes or noses). They are white but not albino.

YEP! That's what makes them so unusual. Just one herd of them in a confined space.

The one that you saw was almost certainly an albino. They can occur anywhere but are very rare.

Really unique. I had to right click on the picture and "open in a new window". But,by golly, I got to watch it.
