I never see farm equipment auctions in my area. I finally find one and it's only a few miles away.

I'd like a look at the fertilizer spreader, anvils, grinder and the Ford 7' brush cutter.

Most of the stuff looks very old. The owner is moving to a rest home.

A few mile south of Tuscaloosa on 69S they have a Southeast Auction site where they have an auction every month. They have items they buy all month and bring them there from all over the southeast and farther away. I pass by it every time I go to Tuscaloosa which is 3 or 4 times a week. They usually have tractors, lots of ATV's, pontoon boats, cars, trucks, heavy equipment, campers. I've also seen lots of computer items and office equipment they get from the University of Alabama.

Maybe Birmingham has become such a big city that they've run most of the farmers off. Perhaps you just need to start looking in the outlying rural areas for farm equipment sales. In middle Tennessee, I see more farm auction ads in the free shopper guide type papers than in the more traditional newspapers. I think the auctioneers are trying to cut their advertising costs and they also probably figure that the guys out looking in the want ad papers are the guys who'll show up at a farm equipment auction.

Anyone else find this sad,
the man worked and loved his land, and now it's off to the "home",
they are selling off all his tools of the trade, I would rather have the tractor roll on me then go out in a "home"

Slackdaddy, I was saddened by this news also. Looking at the shop you can just feel that this man really had it going years ago. He has all the equipment to make and fix many pieces that are needed on a farm.

Cattle and hay are the only farms in our area.
