Air Tools / Compressor Question

/ Air Tools / Compressor Question #21
Egon, that's an interesting thought. I never tried it, but it might not be bad if there are no abrasives in it, and of course, the filter should have caught any of those. The loss of power in air tools is frequently because of dirt, dust, or some other abrasives that got into the air motor through the air intake. So when working on them, I frequently used a cylinder hone to smooth the interior of the cylinder, and occasionally (not too often, fortunately), I got one with a cylinder scored too deeply to hone it smooth.

Good points, ultrarunner. At least you didn't discover the problem with a flat tire on the side of the road when it was -30 though. That's when I generally discover over-torquing problems.

For the oil/paint issue, the slickest set up I've ever seen was separate lines split off about a foot before the auto-oiler with a switch-valve for extra security. No oil in the paint guns, but plenty for everything else.
