While completing a survey on my recently delivered L4400 HST-1, the section asking about initial days of ownership has no reference to the tires. While driving to a neighbor,s home I notice a vibration as if the tires are not in balance. Are AG tires normally balanced? So far this is the only comment that I have on the sales and delivery experience.

Doubt any tractor tire is balanced. Noticed my BX25 felt like it had a flat spot on a front tire R/I4. I aired the tire up a little and it helped but still isn't smooth. I just got my first set of Ag tires on a B2320 and they ride a bit rough on pavement and I expect it to.

Never seen tractor tires balanced. Ag tires (R1) are generally not intended for highway use. They will have lots of vibration on hard surfaces because of the lug spacing plus they are sometimes slightly out of round. Hard surface tires that still have pretty good loose surface traction (although not as much as ag (R1) tires) would be R4. The vibration you get on hard surface with ag tires are just a trade off you deal with to get the added traction on loose surface.

Thanks for the info on AG tires. I will send in the survey and see if the dealer calls me about tire balancing.

I can only imagine the chunk of weight one would have to hang on a tractor tire of any type to balance it.

There is an old thread on here some where about tires/wheels being out of round, but I don't remember who posted it.

I have yet to run a tractor on a road that was what I would call smooth riding.

R4s can be bouncy on the road at higher speeds. Mine also have definite harmonics, go a little slower or faster and the ride gets better. Makes me appreciate the suspension seat.

When I bought my tractor I tried models with turf and ag tires. The difference in smoothness in high gear was large. So I'd say it's the tread and not a balancing issue. I worked in a truck tire place for a summer and we never did a single tractor tire. As another poster said, I also recall the thread on how out of round his rims were. I didn't check mine, if they're that out of round I don't want to even know it. It would just bug me.

how would you balance a tire that is to be filled with or alredy filled with liquid?
