This is an aerial shot of our area including our property. It was available free on the Mapquest website. A great many areas have been photographed. All you do is type in your address. If the aerial photo tab comes up next to the street map tab, then a picture of your area is available. Just click it and find your property.

That's pretty neat Mike, but of course, I'm so far out in the boondocks that if you enter my address, they can't find it so they just give you a map centered on the zip code, which is the little town 10 miles from here that my mail comes from./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Bird,
Try this website. It covers much more of the U.S. than the Mapquest site does. It is also a satellite image but is in black and white. You bring up your general area then follow the roads and familiar landmarks to your place. Let me know if it works.

Yeah, Mike, I'm familiar with the terraserver. There is a picture there of my place that was made in March '95, shortly after I bought the place and before I replaced the old ragged single wide mobile home that was here with a new double wide.

I had to splice a few Mapquest pictures together, for my property exceeded the boundaries when zoomed in all the way.

So, while I was at it, I added the property lines in -- you can see my final product in my photo album -- click here

Nice looking spread you have there Dave.
Do you plan on working the land..crops..hay etc..
Enjoy the day.

Beautiful spot, Dave. But I have to ask.... How did you get such a "crazy" property line? It has "zigs" in its "zags". Wow!

Mike, how many acres are under water in your lake? It looks like it might be between 30 and 40 acres. Nice place. What is the heavy green foliage in the upper right quadrant of the photo?

Jim,

I am not sure how many acres the lake is but it is a perfect ski lake. One of the many activities we enjoy.

About the heavy green foliage. All of the land in this part of Central Florida was up until 17 or so years ago citrus groves. At that time we had back to back devastating freezes that wiped out the citrus industry in our area. As a matter of fact our property use to belong to the Libby Fruit Company and was planted in grapefruits.

The bright green foliage you see is a 7 acre grapefruit grove. The other green piece is planted in pine trees, which many grove owners did after the freezes to maintain their agricultural exemption.

There are still a number of small groves around us, some planted in oranges, tangerines, and grapefruit. The wife and I love to saddle up the horses with saddle bags and ride through the groves picking fruit along the way.

This photo was taken last May-ish, the lake was at an all time low. Normally the dark brown area around the lake would be covered in water.

Probably more than you wanted to know,

Mike
