We had an almost identical kubota journeys, I started out 11 years ago with a B7500 HST, jumped up to a B3030 HSDC and found the perfect machine for my needs in the GL 3540 HSDC! Just for the record all 3 machines were awesome and ran supurbly, i just outgrew them!

Well, I tried out the Grand L3540 HSTCC and love it but it is too big for what I need.

Back to the B7800 for the time being.( Not really a hardship.):) Until I find something I need done that it can't do it stays. I will add quick attach front and rear and a rear remote for more versatility. I'm sure I will miss the cab next winter but there is always Sims or Curtis if necessary.

So did they take the tractor back?

Well, I sometimes have a tough time making decisions, especially expensive ones.

I just talked to the dealer and the GL3540 is coming back Monday. They did bring back the 7800 but that was part of the agreement, compare side by side, no hurry for a decision. I have to say that my local dealer is an absolutely great guy and the service guys are top notch. I would advise anybody in Nova Scotia interested in a Kubota to talk to Leroy at Nova International. They don't get any better.

I am one happy camper.:D

It gets hard sometimes to really commit to such a bigger deal. I still have second thoughts from time to time but the reality is that these units hold so much of their value that even when you figure how many hours you use divided by the actual cost you spent for me over the years each tractor has cost me anywhere from 12.00/hr (BX22) to 20.00/hr (L2800) to 30.00/hr (GL3540) dollars an hour and having it available anytime I wanted it for work that would have cost me thousands otherwise. If I had kept anyone of those rigs from those points on it would have gotten far less per/hr but I keep trading. I believe the GL3940HSTC-3 will be it for me. There is a struggle for need vs wants but in the end if you do keep it long term it will hold its value more than anything else out there.

Out of curiosity, what changed your mind?

There were several factors that weighed on this decision. Number one was the cab. Even though spring is coming, I knew I would regret not having the cab next winter. Number two was my truck, I have a Dodge 1 ton dually that I don't use much any more except to launch and retreive my boat. This tractor can do that job so the truck will go as I have no need for it. Number three was versatility. With the QA and rear remotes I have many more options going forward. I see many home fabricated attachments in my future.:D

As mentioned, that kind of decision is always a difficult one, but I believe in the end you will really be happy with it.

Sometimes it's difficult to distinguish between 'need' and 'want'. I've always had trouble with the concept.

What seems to be more tractor than you will ever need has a way of becoming small after a while! Trust me on this, its happend to me several times!

Lawn King has it right! Tractors have a way of shrinking over time.

no most people buy a tractor they can out grow.when they shouldve bought a tractor they can grow into.if i ever buy another tractor itll be 85 to 100hp.the tractor i bought last year was the highest hp in HSTs that kubota makes.so i bought the top end in the HSTs.

My tractor budget is shot so this will have to do for a long time. I got the cab for winter snow removal and everything else is gravy.:D

Happy camper here.

I think you will be really happy with it. My wife and I really liked the L3240/L3540, but we have a lot of acreage and went with a L5030 to fit in between our other tractors.
