On the way to work, I dropped the mount off with my salesman with which I have a pleasant acquaintance at the local JD store. He's going to work with service to see if JD will cover the cost of the part and acknowledged the obvious - no penetration on the welds...defective part.

New part in hand though I still haven't heard if JD will step up on this.

Regardless, you will need the new part as the old one doesn't look serviceable.

I do too...and I hope they put out a service bulletin as well as determine the root cause. If this was robotically welded...or even manually welded, there could be quite a few of those components in service.

Installation was a snap. Since is the only time I've removed the FEL I went ahead and set the lock assembly tight to the mast per the manual. It was delivered with about 3/4" of gap. It ran so much quieter without the slop. Five hours of seat time with no problems.

I went by this week to talk to the shop boss. He indicated that they'd yet to get back but would likely offer half the cost. I'll post the final result. I love my tractor but am not impressed with John Deere of late but then I think the experience is not unusual of late.

+1 to this -- there is zero penetration of those welds. How old is your loader? If it's not ancient, then I would definitely let JD know about this. There's no way that weld is up to ANY manufacturers spec.

I agree. Bad weld.
