advice on dash repair - Ford 3000

When I bought my 67 Ford 3000 none of the dash instruments worked. Now that I've had a chance to get some other routine maintenance out of the way, I would like to tackle this problem. I have found several online resources to purchase the parts but now I'm left wondering where to begin. Should I buy everything from a new instrument panel, wires and everything or are there techniques to discover exactly what the problem is? As far as I can tell nothing works, the hour meter, tach, fuel and temp gauges are dead. The battery light does come on when I crank it but that's about it.

If nothing works, that might indicate a simple problem. I doubt ever guage has failed. If I were doing it, I would take the entire panel off and check for power, etc. See if one wire is damaged and the result is all gauges have failed as a result of one wire not providing power.

I doubt that everyone has failed like Doc Bob said. We have a 3000 and it has never had any lights or gauges replaced and its at 3500+ hours.

I bought a replacement instrument panel for my 4610 last month. It was Chinese made and the tach was frozen and broke my cable as soon as I started the motor. After working on the tach an hour to free it up and buying a new cable, it still didn't run very steady. The fuel gauge was very inaccurate also. The panel fogged up a lot where you could hardly see the gauges too. But it looked nice!

The Chinese one was a lot cheaper than the one from New Holland but I don't know if the NH replacement is the same as original or if it is Chinese made.
