I have a BH attachment that has it's own sump and pump - the pump attaches to the PTO via a coupler.

The shaft of the pump has a 'key' that fits in with the coupler- the coupler has two bolts that screw down - 1 bolt down the coupler to the PTO shaft and the other to the shaft of the external pump assembly.

the problem is that the shaft 'key' on the external BH pump is completely worn.

what would you do to fix this? buy a new shaft for the pump? i haven't tried but i will now (if the key is removable)

first two pics are of the pump shaft with worn key. the last pic is the coupler and groove the key slides into.

Ok. I removed the 'key' or spline and it looks like a half moon...

question: where to buy one of these??

It's called a woodruff key, and they are used extensively in small engines, motorcycles, and equipment. You can get assortments at auto parts stores or Harbor Freight or pretty much any industrial supply place like Grangers or McMaster Carr. Hydraulic shops should have them as well, any place that works on things that have shafts are likely to have them on hand.

A little loctite gell will help when doing the put back together stuff. Ace has alot of good stuff in the slide in draw.
