Adjusting JD955 mower/blower height

The JD955 seems to have a manual crank adjustment (on top of the operator deck) for lifting or lowering a midmount mower. Does this system work well or is it a hassle if much adjustment is necessary?

Is it more typical for tractors these days to have hydraulic lift for belly mount mowers? I know the NH midsize boomers do. What does it work off, the rear 3ph or another system?

Another question: does a front mounted JD snowblower have much/enough height adjustment compared to some others such as NH boomers. The JD seems to have a little hydraulic cylinder to adjust up and down. Not sure how adjustment is made on NH (same?).

The boomer uses the 3point lift arms,a bracket goes on each arm. Also my friends JD (not sure what model) uses the same type of system if I remember correctly and it has some type of quick connect system.Cant help on the snow blower situation. Tom

If the 955 is like my 755 the deck is raised and lowered by hydraulics. The crank just set a stop for the height adjustment. To set the height , raise the 3pt hydraulics up, which also raises the midmower. Crank the stop all the way down. Then using the hydraulics set the mower height. You can then raise the mechanical stop to lock the decks lowest travel point. Now you can raise the deck up and down by full throws on the 3pt level and the deck will stop at your low adjustment point. If you then want to fine tune the cutting height simply raise the deck and crank the mechanical adj up or down 1 turn per inch. Also by mechanically locking the deck in the full up position you can use 3pt equiptment with the deck up & out of the way. Now I just got to figure some way to keep the 3pt landscape rake up while I mow with the deck down. The manual warns against use the 3pt flow valve to lock implements in the up position. Maybe a chain around the ROPS ????
