I wear leather work boots quite a bit and the leather, particularly around the toe, is getting pretty ding'd up.

I've seen something called "tuff toe" which is kinda expensive, considering the boots are already half worn out; I know some people put shoe goo on their boots... but I figure y'all on TBN actually use your boots in likely a similar way that I do (on the land, in dirt). I don't do a lot of kneeling on concrete, so that sort of wear isn't such a concern - mostly I want something that'll protect the leather and actually stay on a decent amount of time. If it's cheap, I don't mind redoing it once a year.

Any recommendations?

I've got this one 2 pairs of my Redwings;
It has a rougher finish than some others. Has held up better than I expected! Price is a plus.

I remember years ago when I was working in the welding shop, the toes on my boots would wear out way before the actual boot. Caused by a lot of crawling around on the cement floor under trucks and equipment. I had bought a pair of these (pic is for example only) and they came with the glue, they added enough life to the boots that the toe would last as long as the rest of the boot.

I have used this Hardman brand epoxy to repair boot toes before. This is the high peel strength, stays flexible type and it lasts a long time. One boot I have had a cut going through the top layer of leather. I got some of the epoxy down through the layers and worked into the leather a bit. It will outlast the boots I'm sure.

I've used these for years with great results. On all my work boots and are put on the first day when new. Glue is like contact cement similar to tire tube patch glue. Just follow instructions and I tape my down overnight for good bond.
