adding a tubocharger

just turning up the fuel will also cause high EGT's. by adding the turbo you are increasing the air charge to burn the additional fuel. a turbo with mild boost will make more power and run cooler than just turning up the fuel.

Agreed. Over fueling a diesel without the properly matched air is not good. Under a large load on the engine, it should only puff black smoke and then clear out, otherwise, if it stays black, then engine is way over fueled and lacks proper air flow the match the amount of fuel being injected.

I know, but it looks cool.:laughing:

With research, I am confident that the properly matched turbo for the engine, as well as plumbing, timing, etc. will produce very nice hp/torque extremely efficiently and reliably. Get after it.

No. The reason your exhaust temperature is higher is because the charge is heated by compression of the turbine wheel in the turbocharger.supercharger so the inital charge is hotter before it gets compressed by the piston.
"

Actually, the compressor wheel of the turbo compresses the intake charge and the turbine drives the compressor with engine exhaust gas.

Twin charging is a real benifit on tractors you get low down torque until the turbo spools up.
