I saw a MTD fastattach product at my local cub dealer that I thought was pretty sweet. It was a large 35" tool box mounted to a series 1000 tractor. The tractor mount was a fastAttach style that easily popped on and off and fits any MTD FastAttach rear mount as I understand it. So this would obviously fit series 2000/2500 tractors (like mine). For reference, here's a pic of it on Amazon.

It's official product name is:

MTD Arnold OEM-190-604 FastAttach YardMate Tool and Storage Chest

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008VE3T/

Anyway... the unfortunate thing about this accessory is its cost at between $175 here or as high as $225 at a dealer. That's a lot of cash for a tool box don't you think?!?

So my question was if anyone here had successfully made a custom toolbox mount of their own and if so how they did it?

My thought was to order a few of the key parts for a grass bagger accessory which also uses FastAttach mounts, then rig up something to support a slightly smaller and cheaper version of this same toolbox from Rubbermaid.

If your interested... the toolbox that comes with this MTD product is generally not a retail item alone. I did find one web site that sold them for $70, but you can find a smaller version at 26" in length for $30 easily on the internet.

The FastAttach style parts that would be required if you wanted to go that route would cost atleast $65 to buy. You would still have fabricate several other pieces though.

Any other ideas out there?
