Adding a Right Side Grab Rail on An L6060HST

/ Adding a Right Side Grab Rail on An L6060HST #11
I believe that the right side grab rail is an optional accessory on all the MXs.

At least it was on my MX4800 but my dealer "threw it in" without me asking or knowing. The only reason I knew to ask about it later was that it was listed on my invoice as a $0.00 item.

It would be sorely missed.

I'm pretty sure all the MX tractors I got on at the dealers already had it. I agree it's essential. I typically ride around with my left hand on the steering wheel and my right hand on that handle, especially if I'm going to be looking backward or if I need to turn around to do things like turning off the valve on the sprayer.

I'm not sure about the MX4800 but my MX5800 came with the right side grab rail as standard equipment.

Driving down a woods road today holding onto my new right side grab bar made me think that I should thank bdhsfz6. A right grab bar seems like a small thing but it feels so right. Much better than grabbing the outside of the fender as you go along on a side hill.

Update:

Went to local CNH/Kubota dealer (4 miles and first name basis with everyone as very good customer) this morning to order 5800 right side grab rail. Surprised to learn that that they had 2 in stock. Parts manager that I've known for over 10 years and trust (he gives me a "good customer" discount) tells me that customers buy this grab bar to install on right side of various models. After searching his sales records, he found no L6060 buyers that have bought this part.

After returning home, I modified the grab rail (4 hack saw cuts, sneaking up to proper fit) to fit my L6060 without modifying the console or drilling other holes in the fender. The fit is perfectably acceptable to me.

Thank you, bdhsfz6 for the part number.

An old thread but it was very helpful to me. I went with SDT’s method using a hacksaw. Quite pleased with the results. Thanks to all.

Looks Good!

I was concerned that cutting that much off the base would affect the rail stability since it's bolted to a fairly thin sheet metal fender. That's why I opted for drilling the second hole as in post#1. I'm glad it worked out for you though!

I've since traded my L6060 for a cabbed model. The salesman had no problem with the mod and and gave me full trade in value.

I happened to see the machine on the the dealer's used tractor lot a few weeks later and the rail was still in place.

The strength of my way is a little concerning so I’ll not put too much stress on it, at least not at first. I did have to shave off a lot and it’s still snug against the plastic console. Should it fail it will likely be at the embedded bolt.

A GL cabbed version may be in my future but not quite yet. I trim a lot of limbs from the tractor seat. Hiring a forestry CTL for a few days recently tamed a lot of my wood lines. :giggle:

That was the first addition to my L4701 - dealer had number and stock.
