Kubota MX5800 HST & L6060 HSTC Formerly L6060 HST B7100 HST, L2550, L3010 HST, L3430 HST
The first thing I do when getting on any of the Kubota's I've owned is reach across and grab the right side fender grab rail to steady myself. I'm also used to holding this rail when mowing on a slope. I was quite disappointed to find Kubota decided to omit this rail on the L6060 due to the fender mounted console which houses most of the hydraulic controls. To most, this probably seems like a minor inconvenience but to me it's a problem.

The fix was easier than I expected. Since Kubota does not list a part # for a right side grip rail on an L6060, I ordered the right side rail for an MX5800. it is a perfect match for the left side rail on the L6060. Messicks part #'s (Assy Grip, KU T1060-29470) and (Nut Flange KU 02771-70100) Total price was $48.08 excluding tax & shipping.

I removed the orange tape covering the rear mounting hole in the right fender and drilled a new 7/16" hole 2" outboard of the front hole which is partially covered by the console. Although the new grip rail does not fit into the stamped recess in the fender, it still looks good and functions perfectly. The install took all of 15 minutes.

Ok! Now I'm happy. The L6060 is an awsome machine!

That's great. For $50 it seems worth having. I bet Messicks is going to have a little surge in orders for this handle.

Really? On a Grand? I had the same tape covered holes on my old L3200. Got probably the same handle to add.

My new L4060 had a cab so it wasn't relevant to me now. But it boggles my mind they are stripping small stuff like that off Grand machines now.

The lack of a grab rail (and even more so a step) on the right side of my L6060 is a major annoyance. I've considered improvising similar to how you've done but have not yet done so.

Wondering if the grab rail would fit into the recess in the fender if the filler is removed from the console and the grab rail is trimmed on the inside?

I like to mount/dismount my tractors from both sides and find the lack of a step on the right side unforgivable, though just about all manufacturers have eliminated such.

Feel the same way about the missing right grab on my M5640. Thanks for posting this bit of info !!!!

I thought about trimming the console to allow the rail to fit the recess. IMO, doing so would put the handle too close to the console and make it more difficult to grab. It would also be difficult to repair the console if I decide to remove the rail and put the tractor back in "stock" condition. Patching the drilled hole would be easy with one of the adhesive orange disks.

Since the FEL joystick is fender mounted on the L6060 and out of the way, I'm also considering adding a right side step. It will have to be custom built though since the hydraulic manifold would prevent mounting an OEM Kubota step.

I wondered about that too, little dremel work on the plastic might give the handle room to fit into the recess. That might put the handle too close to the console though.

That looks almost factory the way he has it.

I may try trimming the console to install the handle. If so, I will post back with results.

I have a superb local fabricator/welder who has promised to build right side steps for both my L6060 and M9960 but It has been over a year and I have heard nothing after his initial visit to take measurements. I guess it's time to rattle his cage again.

Update:

Went to local CNH/Kubota dealer (4 miles and first name basis with everyone as very good customer) this morning to order 5800 right side grab rail. Surprised to learn that that they had 2 in stock. Parts manager that I've known for over 10 years and trust (he gives me a "good customer" discount) tells me that customers buy this grab bar to install on right side of various models. After searching his sales records, he found no L6060 buyers that have bought this part.

After returning home, I modified the grab rail (4 hack saw cuts, sneaking up to proper fit) to fit my L6060 without modifying the console or drilling other holes in the fender. The fit is perfectably acceptable to me.

Thank you, bdhsfz6 for the part number.
