acrtic cat 454 problems

I have a 96 arcticcat 454 4x4 that has been bullet proof for the past ten years. But this weekend it started giving trouble. The atv will run for five minutes or so until it gets warm and then it starts shutting itself off and backfiring. You have to let it cool down before it will run again I think it is something electrical but not for sure was wondering if anybody else has had this problem. Any help is appreciated.

have you been doing any up keep on the carb??? it kinda sounds like you could be runnin out of gas too. clogged jetts runs til the bowls empty and then shuts off and when it fills back up again it starts back up. and second is there any kinda sensor like low oil or over heating sensor that could be bad? . i will do some searching and see what i can find.
