Wonder if you ever considered a welding class at local adult school or Junior college night class.....
What? Is my welding that bad?
It my not look the best, but I think it will hold.

Got some information back from Arccaptain sales:
Dear Richard,
Thank you for your patience over the weekend while awaiting our response.
We appreciate your detailed questions - here are the answers for you:

  1. The flexible plastic part is the outer protective lens, which should not be removed. It serves as an essential shield, protecting the inner auto-darkening lens and sensors from sparks, scratches, and debris to ensure clear vision and long-term durability.
  2. For storage, please set the mode switch to the "Grind" position.
  3. The helmet has an operating temperature range of -5°C to +55°C (23°F to 131°F). For storage, no specific temperature is required – simply keep it at room temperature.
We hope this information is helpful.

I had ask what is the purpose of the flexible plastic on the front of the helmet. I think he is mistaken about it, as I have some flat solid plastic parts that are replacement for the shields that are in there now.
Sales, what do they know?

The user manual did not have the operating temp range or any info on what to do for storage. So now I do have that info.

Richard
P.S. more new coming up soon on my mower upgrade.
Is your dilemma the flat plastic vs the curved plastic? On the Lincoln Viking hood both the inner and outer lenses come flat, the inner stays flat when installed and the outer has to be flexed into the curve shape when being installed in the hood.

FYI Setting it to grind mode when not in use saves the button battery. I wish I knew that many dead batteries ago lol.

Cool project.

I have been modeling the front suspension of my Hart mower to determine how wide the new suspension part has to be to allow the same turning radius as original. As far as I can measure accurately, the front wheels turn a max of 40 Degrees. So I would have to make my new suspension beam 2 inches longer on each side.
