AC 8030 pulling trailer?

I have an AC 8030 2 wd with a full rack of weights in the front. also have a 16' flatbed trailer with dual 8,000 lb axles but it has a ball hitch on it. I want to use this for hauling loads of firewood about 7 miles in the country......possible to hook this trailer to a ball hitch? Good idea or not?

Your trailer has a ball hitch or a gooseneck? Just seems like a lot of weight for a ball hitch.

It is possible, but if a gooseneck getting the correct hitch height will be an issue.

I know a few people who have a 3 point hitch set up to move a gooseneck around. They only use it for cattle trailers to move one or 2 cows at a time between barns.

I myself used to move a pintel hitch flat bed trailer around with a dozer. The tractor was 100 hp 4wd and it basicaly only was used to cross the road.

We have an 8050 2WD so I can relate to your issue...
Those tractors were marketed by Allis as quick turning due to a short wheel base...
You may have enough weight on the front to handle the hitch weight but it could be iffy...
I pull a 10' Howse bush hog on the 3 point with our 8050 and without weights on the front she will get light...
I think that Allis manufactured two weight brackets for the tractor...
A 14 and a 10...

I don't think you will have a problem. I have a ball on my tractor for my 7 tonne trailer. I haven't had it on the road but I'm pretty sure it would handle it fine at speed. Not sure how heavy your tractor is, but from a pic it looks at least as heavy as mine.

I've spent many hours running 8030, 8050 and 8070 AC's, they were great tractors. We used to pull a 500bu grain cart with them, loaded it weighed about 34,000lbs, so what you're describing should be no problem at all. Just be sure to find one of the 1 1/4" shank hitch balls with a high weight rating.
