John Deere 990 2-wheel drive
When I got my JD990 I immediately thought how could
I mount a tool box/drink holder. I finally decided on
mounting a Case-Gard Sportsman's Dry Box on the right
fender. A seatbelt holder was already mounted on the
fender but I unscrewed it and relocated on the lower
part of the fender. There were already two holes drilled
in the fender for a second helper handle so I could use
them for the box. The dry box is waterproof, has a locking
top, is heavy plastic which is waterproof and lightweight.
I now can open the box, insert 3 or 4 frozen bottles of
water, drinks, etc. When I need a drink I open the box
and go. The top of the box has a rubber o-ring so no
dust or dirt can enter. I also put my glasses, a few tools,
my ammo when I hunt, and many other things in it.
Total cost $10.00.

Good Idea! I believe others have done the same and been very happy. In looking at a JD 790, I notice that it has no such holder / tool box either. And I really can't find a good spot for one. This poses a serious problem for me. I mean, shear pins, vice grips, work gloves, small first aid kit, liquid refreshment... Aren't these kinda key items?

Hey! JD! Listen up! WE WANT TOOL BOXES!!!

Obviously John, he's having so much fun opening and closing his new tool box/drink holder, that he's forgotten to put his camera in the new box so that he'll always be ready for that one great action shot! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Even tractors that are equipped with factory installed cup holders and toolboxes leave a lot to be desired. A lot of unhappy owners just like myself have figured out a way to add these accessories that can actually function out there in the real world environment. And it can be done with little effort and still turn out to be a worthwhile project. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Grab you a new toolbox and cupholder and go for it..... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I've noticed many new cut's don't have good tool box provisions. Course.. I've seen both gooad and bad tool boxes on old tractors as well... for instance.. the ford N's had decent tool boxes under the hood.. but the NAA had a tool box in the running board... bad idea.. and small.

My ex-NH 1920 had this slim little tool box behind the seat.. great for a screwdriver and some dust..

My NH 7610S however has a nice 'normal' sized tool box on the right lower side of the engine.. and it has a carry handle, and can even detatch from the tractor... nice option...

The Agco ST35 that I had featured a tiny plastic tool box about 10"x4" x 2"tall. I thought it was a joke.
My old Allis tractors came with good sized boxes that mount on the fender. They even had a hole about 1" in diameter in the end so you could lay a grease gun in there and let the long tip stick out the end.

Yes it is, but the brackets where it mounts are perfect of a ammo box. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I kind of like it that way. it gives you an excuse to make stuff yourself. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually, I have one stand about a mile from the barn that
is in a very marshy area. I take the tractor to an area about
200 yards from the stand and walk the rest of the way.

SURE. You can hang the kill from the fel, and skin and quarter it all at the kill site. Then you got a place to put the meat and hide/trophy instead of packing it out on your back!!

I asked my dealer what he thought was the most commn use for a boom pole. His answer - the hunters use them to hang their deer to dress.
We have wild pig in Hawaii, so I guess I'll get a boom pole.

That is exactly what I use mine for. Also to raise deer to
load in pickup.

You hunt with your tractor? Are you going to kill a deer with a Deere? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Surplus ammo boxes work well and come in a bunch of different sizes. Of course you must repaint them the appropriate color!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It is kind of like buying a $35k 3/4 ton pickup, that has o tiedown hooks. Sure, they put some little tab in each corner of the bed, but how are you suppossed to secure a load of hay or other large awkward item? Or, they put tiny little backup lights on them. Or...
