Just left the bank with the check for the agreed upon price for a new Kioti DK4510, $22000 w/ FEL no other options.

After some calling around and searching this site the price seem right, but this is my first new vehicle purchase and I want to make the salesman earn his check. Small town dealer in Maine that ordered in the tractor for me.

That being said we have a three day right to reneg here in Maine and I'm willing to walk away without handing over the check.

What do you guys think I can get fromore them. They are loading all four tires and attaching a reversible blade in the FEl. At very least I'm hoping to get these free, but I'm wondering if you guys think I could get more. Maybe throw in a pallet fork?

You agreed to a price with some freebies and if they keep their word maybe you should too? Service is a good part of a dealer. Mine answers any questions by email or phone.

He ordered the tractor for you and set it up after you agreed to a set price. I think he did his job.

Yep, I'm with the others on this one. You already agreed to a tractor and price. When they deliver the tractor you hand over the check.:2cents:

Chances are you are going to need this dealer in the future, he ordered the tractor for a price you already agreed upon so pay him.. If you wanted more than you are paying for you should have negotiated before he ordered it for you..

I'd have to agree with all of the above posters. Integrity is worth more than a set of pallet forks.

I know this because when I got home last week after picking up my trailer full of implements, I realized that I hadn't been charged for the HD 48" pallet forks I ordered. I immediately called my contact at the dealer/store and let them know about it. (You could hear the surprise in his voice...I think he figured that I must have had a problem). Anyways...my best advice is what I would do in any situation. A deal is a deal. If they honor their end, you should honor your end.

I couldn't agree more with all the above quotes . A deal is a deal , just like a hand shake was all it would take years ago .

“You could hear the surprise in his voice”. I had a similar experience and the surprise was your honesty, he is use to dishonest people! You made an impression and shined a glimmer of hope. Regards

I guess I'm wondering how you would react if the dealer called and said it's ready to pick up. When you get there something you agreed to is not done and he starts to renegotiate on the deal?

Free pallet forks??????

Really????

They are about 650 a pop on average YMMV.
If you wanted freebies that should have been part of the negotiation when price was agreed upon. To come back and hit up the dealer for freebies after the fact is just wrong on many levels.
This is the guy you will depend on for future warranty, repairs, maintenance support.
Don't shoot yourself in the foot before the ink even dries.
This will be a long term relationship.
There are countless benefits to having a good rapport with your dealer.

Learn from this and move on.
Good luck with your purchase the DK will serve you well, unless you treat your tractor like your treating your dealer.

Alright everybody take a breath. As a brief follow up I didn't mean to come across as crooked I just havent done a major purchase like this before and wasn't sure how they go. It's a lot of money to me and I've worked hard to get this far.

Dust settled and I handed over the check for the tractor and paid cash for nice pallet forks, loaded tires and a reversible blade for fel. $1300 in extras.

Like I said, I'm new to this and didn't know what to expect. Glad you guys set me straight, that's why I asked. We really pretty solid people up north here.

Oh man this thing has her work cut out for her. We've got 17 acres of 60 year old trees, a half mile of Rd to maintain/improve. I'm confident it will add it's value in equity to the property.

Now just to wait for delivery :)

First mess for her to clean up. About half an acre of trees cut down for field. Probably 30 or 40 trees down.

Well here at TBN we are pretty good at spending you money.

So I'd recommend a 3 pth stump grinder, looks like you've got lots of mulch in the making.

The weight of the DK will put the work to the dirt you will be happy with it.
On the HST filter there is a mod where you can order the NX style magnet set that sets in the middle of the filter housing.
Those magnets will help keep the hyd. system pretty clean.
Congrats on the new toy er ah work machine.

Thanks for the recommendation on the magnet, I had seen that a while back but didn't know it was just a NX magnet.

As far as stumps go I'm almost leaning towards spending money on some nice heavy rigging with some block and tackles. Seems like it'd be cheaper and easier on the tractor if rigged up properly.

Of course pulling stumps seems to be something this site like to debate about.
