I would forget the backhoe! Go for a larger unit with a powershift trans and fel. I do not have any trouble with my 2wd and fel. I don't go out if it is muddy. 4wd is prob better. I do not need it and if you read the post here alot problems on the yanmars seem to be in the front axel of the 4wd units. Here in Kansas one can rent a mini excavator for about 150 bucks a day. I could not justify the expense of a small backhoe when I can rent a unit that actually gets some work done that cheap. I can not immagine u would have that much need for a back hoe. The small ones are not that effective and a 1500 is really too small for them. (my opinion)
For 10k you could get a good sized tractor and fel with powershift and prob have some money left for attachments. I run a 4ft brush hog and it takes about 6 hrs to mow 6 acres.
I like my Vietnam recon, VIN loader. I have seen some real junk tractors with and without new paint though. Be careful what u buy...

I am partial to the 20 series tractors. They are heavier then most other of the YM series. The 2620 comes in at nearly 4000 lbs. My 2020dis 48 inches winde and at 2600 lbs it gets great traction and is very roomy and a pleasure to operate. I spent years with a tractor that was too little to do the things I wanted to do. If you are going to snake logs keep in mind this is a dangerous job if your machine is too small. the yanmars have much more power than weight. The cost of a larger sachine is not that much. When asked why I have a 23 hp tractor on 4 acres I say it is not a tractor but a bassboat. Which means that it is not a need thing but a want thing.

what does your 2620 have to get that much weight that my 3110 D don't have ? (3110D - 2900 lbs) /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

WOWWEE!! I don't know what to say to all you nice, friendly guys!! I HIGHLY appreciate all the feedback to my dilemma. I just returned from a 3 day trip..I went to see the fellas at EFC in Richland & was impressed with the honesty going on there. I have tried the YM1500D..You were ALL correct in that it is just TOO darned short for my poor legs! The guys at EFC steered me to a pretty nice Mitsu that fits my person far better. An 1801. it's a 4X4 with: Koyker FEL & backhoe..3 speed PTO, 4 ranges(i think) 4 forward gears, 3 reverse & a good tranny! They were in the process of changing out a worn PTO bearing & seals..I looked into the final drive (cover plate was off) & all the differental gears looked brand new! I know what worn gears look like! These look good! For $12,500, this tractor may fill my needs, or I may decide by week's end to go with a step larger. The Mitsu definitely has more space for seating!! More horses, etc. than the 1500. Thanks again for all the info..I'll be checking in to ask for more guidance almost daily! Still haven't made a final decision, tho.. Mike

The 2620D is suppose to weigh in at 3813 pounds., maybe not 4000 but not too far from it.

I considered buying from them, but didn't. I called them on a Friday to see if they were open on Saturday, they said sure just call ahead and let us know you're coming. I called on Saturday when I was about 20-30 min away, whoever answered didn't know anything about me coming but said Ok. I got there and no one was around, waited about 20 min looking at what they had in the yard, then went to Issaquah Honda Kubota and bought a B7510.

New Kubotas are definately more expensive than what Tractor Company sells, but in my experience their customer service is beyond compare and the Kubotas quality seems twice the gray market Yanmars (twice the value to me anyway). I have no regrets going with the new Kubota over the much less expensive Tractor Company tractors.

Ahhh..I ran into the same thing there..The ACTUAL shop is across the road & uphill a block..If you were not heard near the new barn/show area, you would not be seen, either. I have decided to go to a different dealer across the state. Still used/grays, but much more realistic personnel. Glad you found a unit that satisfies your needs! Mike

The 20 series seems to be the heavyest of the Ym tractors look at http://www.yanmarowners.com/yanmarspecifications.htm and look for tractor weights. I don't see how a 3810 could be around 2900 lbs but that is what the chart gives. I think the trans and rear end are larger then the other Yamnars for some reason.

Hey, Ernie..Thanks for the offer. I have already made a deal with EFC Equipment in Richland... I know!! I could have saved sales tax buying it from you!..Oh well! Maybe next time! Oregon just seemed too far to ask my friend to haul for free (I am paying fuel costs) I appreciate all the input here & will be lurking! I'll let y'all know how the Mitsu 1801 turns out Mike

Thanks, Ernie! I did end up buying one from Buck..Tho I never did actually SEE Buck, I assume he exists! (He was hunting) Bought a Mitsu (sorry, all you YM guys)..They made me a fair deal on an 1800D, which has MUCH more legroom than the YM I was looking at..AND more gearing options/ 3 speed PTO, etc. Bought with Koyker FEL & backhoe)
THANKS to everyone for all your info & suggestions! See ya in the forums!

Buck..S'okay that we haven't met..we'll certainly get the chance down the road. After all, you're taking care of me in absentia anyhow!! By the way, your man Cory is VERY helpful & knowledgeable. I thank you for the after-sale help..

For all the other readers here, I elected to buy this MT-1801D from Buck & EFC..They had just replaced the PTO bearing & seal, so my thinking is, that tractor will not need attention in that area as soon. Brought the tractor home (across the state). Seal on PTO still weeps a bit (not bad, but still...)..So Buck authorizes Cory to arrange transportation & repairs from ACROSS the state..All FREE..THAT, my friends, is SERVICE!! Thanks, Buck!!

By the way..To all of you..Thanks for all your help! Buck's crew came & picked up my tractor. It is now being repaired...Buck: Your son's hunting experience is WAAY more important than my tractor's little repairs..(I have enough to do while it's gone) I know your crew is working on it..But this is one of the pivotal points in your father/son relationship that you cannot miss. I know..I missed it with MY dad..He was too busy! We went hunting exactly ONCE..I was 35 or 40 years old by then..Too much water under the bridge by then..Use the time you have NOW!!!..All my best!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifMike
