Yikes that ride makes my kidneys hurt just watching the video.....a lot can be said for suspension to soak up a lot of that if you are looking for an all purpose side by side. $.02

This weekend ventured with the L3800 and woods bushhog along the trail I had made and all went ok...

It was steep enough so I backed up and had a little extra weight in the loader...

Of course the ground was dry... when wet it is not even walkable.

The grass/thistles were as much as shoulder height... 5 years of drought and now a wet winter was enough to send everything into growth mode.

The L3800 and bushhog did great along the ridges...

Still no RTV in the stable.

It's actually much steeper just to the right of the existing trail...

I did make it into a loop road a couple of weeks back... was able to drive down the face after cutting a path with the dozer...

The two biggest obstacles are grade and protected trees.... so I looked for the best path with both in mind.

The place had been in the same family since the 1860's and we were told no one had ever driven up along the ridge... amazing what can be done with a little Deere 350C dozer if you are not on the clock.

Best path would require cutting through the park which is never going to happen... then the slope would be gentle and gradual...

I was always taught for steep terrain, leave the horses in the stable and take the mules, or better yet a burro.

My friends have had mostly rhinos over the years. One got some bad boy polaris, but ended up trading it in on a Viking. But we mostly play in deep sand down outside my hometown. They do take them on some steep stuff outside Marble Falls Texas.

Why don't you just get a spare set of aggressive tread tires and rims for the Samurai and leave them there on the ranch?

It sounds to me like the rhino or something similar would fit your bill.

I use the Samurai too much at my place...

Even my brother was impressed when I drove him around HIS place with the Samurai... he didn't think much of it when I bought it almost 20 years ago for a $1000 on the way to work one morning and happened to see it for sale.

He's got the Diesel F250 4wd that is just to big to go through the forested portion unless we start taken out some trees which just might happen over the very long run... baby steps first.

THat camera has fantastic image stabilization so the actual ride was a bot choppier. But if you needed to bring a yard of gravel up there it would have kept right on chugging along. Thanks for watching

Used to be you could buy a UTV or ATV and opt out of getting a title at all. Now, dealers provide
a title and 2-year OHV registration. This 2-yr reg (green sticker or red sticker) is $52 every 2y. Once
yours comes due, register as "non-op" for $18, and never pay again for reg. If you fail to renew
or non-op, the state will come after you for late fees for years to come.

If buying used and there is no CA Title/Reg is there a problem to keep that way for ranch use?

I love my Polaris Sportsman 500HO, it almost killed me when it flipped over in top of me but I still ride it, just use safer practices
