The RTV900 we bought runs out of power before traction when loaded and going up the back fence line...

Thinking a hand throttle might overcome or help.

No problems anywhere except on the steepest trail I bladed with the Dozer..

If buying used and there is no CA Title/Reg is there a problem to keep that
way for ranch use?

For the most part, there is no problem with having no title if you are only going to use it on private land.
Of course, when you buy it, you don't know if the seller owns it, either. You don't know if it is stolen and
there is no stolen ATV database to check, as you have with tractors.

What you CAN do is contact the CA DMV and give them the VIN and ask them if it in their database. If
it is, you can get owner info and fines/fees due. If not in the database, it could have an out-of-state title
and CA does not share info on OHVs with other states. If not in the system, you can have a title issued, but only after
a VIN-check, which requires bringing it in to a DMV office. They will also get the engine # and force
you to get a 2-year OHV registration ($52).

All 3 of my current ATVs have no titles and no OHV registrations. One has no VIN visible, and the others
have no records in CA, so I could get titles if I want. It is a PITA, but useful if I sell.

An ATV with a title is worth more if you sell it. Duh. Sporty ATVs really should have a title, since most
buyers want to take these toys on public lands. No so much with utility ATVs, as many of us use them
only on our own property.

Always wondered why a farm utility vehicle with remote hydraulics isn't treated the same as a farm tractor...

The RTV in question would come from an out of state farm equipment dealer... I guess it could be stolen but most Dealers would be on the hood for selling stolen property and not making good
