A non starting kubota

Hi all, I am a lurker that needs a little help.
I have been using my Kubota 2910 (6 months old, 82 hours) to remove some soil from around my house. When I turn the key to start, nothing happens, similar to having a PTO engaged (they’re not). Earlier today it did the same thing, but when I bumped the key a couple of times it started OK. I looked underneath to try and find a switch that connected to the clutch petal, but no luck. Any ideas?
Hopefully I am just having a cerebral gastronomical event—I could deal with that better than my baby letting me down!

If you bump the key and it started sounds like a loose or coroded elect connection.

I found the problem by looking in another thread. (lurking skills are not as good as they should be) Turns out the hydrostatic pedal linkage is sticking or getting a little gummy. I just held the key to start and rocked the pedal until the engine turned. I was able to get two more loads on the dump truck before dark. I will look at the pedal linkage tomorrow to see if I can find the change.

My 2910 has done that several times. Once I kept working on the clutch safety switch for over an hour. Then for some unknown reason "bingo" it decided to start. Went for a few weeks OK the the other day "NO GO" again. It is not a safe practice but I got the screwdriver and shorted the starter and she's up and running. (double checked neutral and turn switch to "glow plug" before applying the screwdriver) Did that once then for the rest of the day normal start procedure worked. I still don't know what causes this agrivation but I keep the screwdriver handy, just in case.

I'll be watching for the answer to this puzzle if anyone knows the answer.

Edited: your answer re; hydro pedal beat me to the post.
I did not know the hydro pedal had any thing to do with starting if clutch was pressed. I'll check mine next time. Thanks

If the hydro pedal is sticking it will not start I had the exact same problem with my B-7500. I spent many hours looking and checking all the saftey switches /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif and then lightly touched the hydro pedal problem solved. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My B2910 would not start the other day, and it was because the cruise control lever was still partially engaged.

In my opinion that is a pretty good safety feature, because if the feature were to not be there then the tractor would've taken off unexpectedly when I released the clutch pedal after starting.

This may (or may not) be related to the other starting problems.

Last time mine wouldn't start, it was because the GST wasn't in neutral. Wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been 10 degrees, windy and with a foot of fresh snow. By the time I got the side panels off, put the charger on the battery and got inside I was pretty darn PO'd. Then my wife said "is it in neutral?"

Five minutes later the tractor was running. The next time it wouldn't start, I didn't quite have the battery charger hooked up yet...

The third time, I only had one side panel off...

The fourth time, I scratched my head for only a few seconds...

Boy, some of us are slow learners.
