Today I got some small limestone with the fine stuff, and pieces of asphault from a road job. Thought I'd take a picture of a piece. It's a little over 8 cubic feet. The loader would not lift it, but the curl on the bucket would. Anyone have an idea how much a cubic foot of asphault weighs?
I used my 3PH bucket to counter weigh the load in the loader bucket. It's bigger than the loader bucket.

A quick search turned up a density of around 150 lb per cubic foot. Sounds like it can vary by quite a bit depending on the type.

That would make it over 1200 lb so it makes sense if your loader couldn't lift it but that the bucket curl could.

Concrete is about 125-150 pounds per cubic foot. Asphalt is lighter, how much I'm not sure.
